Review of 2021 Seadoo GTX 170
We bought the 2021 Seadoo GTX 170 in July of 2020. Immediately from the factory the steering was not calibrated and so we had to take it out of the water and have that fixed. Even after, the boat lists to one side at speeds below 35 mph so you can't hold the handlebars straight and expect to go straight. Major fail. The pickup on this machine is awesome. Top speed is 55 but I got to 59. We smoke everyone when we race. We put our parents yamaha to shame. It cuts through wakes and can get 2 feet of air off big wakes, and the landing is smooth with the soft seats. We ride 2 rider and I feel comfortable in the back seat. The Seadoo is so stable I barely have to hold on going 55 through choppy water. The small backrest is nice. We can sort of do donuts but it doesn't turn on the nose. To me, this jetski is a harley. Big, stable, powerful. I wouldn't call it nimble and playful. Stability is key for us because the California delta often has big wakes. We haven't used the linq accessories yet, they seem expensive for what you get. We can fit a 6 can cooler in the front of the ski and still fit floaties, lunch, and personal bags with lots of extra space. We added the snap in fenders and dock lines this spring and they are a game changer. It's so easy to get tied up to the dock for lunch or gas. We're always the first ones tied up and first ones back on the ski. We also have the stereo system which is great for speeds under 40 mph, anything more than that and the speakers are really only for the driver. The wake on this machine is BIG. I believe it's the same hull as the Wake Pro and so we always have an enormous wake behind our doo. Our friends complain that they have to stay far back from us. The cruise control only goes 4 or 6 mph and 6 gives off a white cap wake so in areas like we live where it's a 30 minute trek through no wake zone before we get to fast water, that's a pain in the ass going a very sluggish 4 which feels like 3 and a real fail on seadoos part to not have a true no wake 5mph option. I'd say the 2 negatives for us are the listing on the boat under 35 mph and the wake size even at low speed. Those things should simply not happen. We love the ski but because of those reasons I would recommended the GTI friend and family.
